Published handouts and templates are available in the Outreach Materials Library. To add or remove materials from the library, submit a request using Support Tracker, selecting ‘Marketing & Outreach’ under ‘Request Type.’
Creating a handout
Set priorities
Who is the handout for? The more specific you can be about your audience the better.
What action(s) do you want people to take after reading it?
What is the one message you want people to remember?
Pages 20, 23, 43 and 56 in the Extension Foundation’s Impact Workbook are a great resource.
Collect impacts
Create a list of data and stories that show changes to knowledge, behavior and/or attitudes of program participants. Pages 43 and 56 in the Extension Foundation’s Impact Workbook are a great resource.
Collect photos
Make sure to have written permission to use a photo from its owner and/or people appearing in the photo.
Extension is building a library of images with signed model releases. Be considerate of how you use photos and portray people in a positive light.
Download images from Adobe Stock. The university has licenses available, or you can submit names/file numbers of the photos you need using Support Tracker, selecting ‘Marketing & Outreach’ under ‘Request Type.’
The university maintains a library of images and video assets.
Design
Templates are available as Word and PowerPoint files in BOX and in Adobe Express brand kits. Adobe Express is available for free to everyone with an @arizona.edu email address. Use the online form to request access to brand kits.
If you aren’t using a template, use approved Cooperative Extension logos and stick to the university’s color pallet and suggested fonts.

Custom design support is available from ALVSCE Creative Services. Turnaround time is typically 3-6 week for handouts.
