Position Description Template

The following template can be used by Extension faculty (Agents) to create up-to-date Position Descriptions. Position Descriptions should be created in tandem with your County Extension Director (CED) to ensure that it includes areas you should be working in and does not include areas you should not be working in.

Purpose: Accurate and current Position Descriptions are crucial for defining roles, setting expectations, and guiding performance reviews. They ensure clarity in responsibilities and alignment with organizational goals.

Process Overview:

  1. Initial Draft: Use the provided template to draft your Position Description.

  2. Collaboration: Review and refine the draft with your CED to ensure mutual understanding and agreement on your responsibilities.

  3. Finalization: Obtain approval from your CED.

  4. Regular Updates: Revisit and update your Position Description periodically or as needed.

Be sure to obtain a shared vision on your Position Description with your CED, as this will be referenced for reviews and any continuing and/or promotion decisions.
