P. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date DCC status for volunteers

Since the DCC relationship establishes the link between volunteer and the university, it is important that the status of the volunteer be current and accurate in the DCC system.  For this reason, please process suspensions or terminations as quickly as possible after the decision is made that service by this volunteer is no longer mutually beneficial to the volunteer and the program.

A truthful but not explicit explanation is preferred.  Some examples are

  • Volunteer moving
  • Violation of code of conduct
  • Service no longer beneficial to volunteer and program
  • Volunteer resigned due to health
  • Volunteer is deceased

In addition to proving our intent about the relationship with this person, a prompt change of the status at the time of suspension or termination also eliminates those long lists of inactive volunteers that we see at roll-over time.
