Interviewing potential volunteers
Assessing each potential volunteer by conducting an interview is a best practice endorsed by The University of Arizona’s General Counsel.
- Program Coordinator or Agent or screening committee schedules interviews
- Interview resources are provided in Appendices. Your program may have its own requirements for questions, procedure, etc.
- Program Coordinator/Agent or screening committee conducts interviews
- Interviewer(s) completes an interview comments sheet based on the agreed upon interview questions during or after the interview (template provided in Appendices)
- Ask interview questions and note observations on interview comments sheet
- Share volunteer job description(s) of interest
- Have potential volunteer complete Volunteer Reference Request Form Appendix 4
- If the potential volunteer is a good fit, proceed to Advancing Volunteer application on page 12 before they leave the interview, so that the process moves forward
- Collect interview comment sheet from all members of interview committee for retention in personnel file
