Where can I find an expert in a particular subject area?

Arizona Cooperative Extension and The University of Arizona have several ways to find experts, but it really depends on what kind of information you're seeking.

Within Extension, we use several sources such as our own web site (extension.arizona.edu) to find people within Extension based on their profile.  But that only works well if the person has updated their profile as the search engine pulls directly from there.  If you haven't set up your profile on extension.arizona.edu, please contact Kelly Arizmendi for any assistance you may need.

Another option is the UofA's Profiles site (profiles.arizona.edu).  However, this site only lists faculty with specialty areas.  It was created as a source for external stakeholders (ie, community members, politicians, press) to find experts in particular areas.  The data provided is driven by entries within a faculty member's Vitae, so it includes the entire University faculty community, not just Extension.  But it's also got a strong search engine that can be used with keywords (for example, livestock, cotton, water, etc.).

We also make use the UofA's main page (arizona.edu) to find people with specific expertise from all facets.  For example, a search on Title IX on arizona.edu will produce several articles associated with that topic.

Because these options are not widely communicated to the general public, many constituents simply call their local office seeking information.  To provide the best service, you can provide them with this information or you can simply help them look up the information they seek using any of the methods described above.
