Profile Fields
Editing your profile doesn’t have to take a lot of time, and you have full control over the information you choose to share. Below are several fields with formatting or style requirements.
Photo Use either a traditional headshot or an image of you doing your work, as long as your face is clearly visible.
The preferred image size is 1,000 x 1,000 pixels, with plenty of space around your face. Check out Ben’s profile as an example of good spacing.
Use a descriptive filename for your photo and avoid capital letters and spaces. For example, change “headshot03433.jpg” to“ben-downer-headshot.jpeg”. This makes it easier to find and reuse your photo on another page and helps search engines more easily index your photo.
Add alt text to the photo, which is used by screen readers to describe images. Use the text of “Headshot of NAME, JOB TITLE”. For example “Headshot of Ben Downer, Extension web content strategist”.
Follow instructions to crop your profile photo correctly for the Card and Modal sizes.
Categories organize people into Views throughout each website. Only select the category and category-secondary that directly apply to you. Categories must first be created using the Taxonomy editor, which is a site administrator task.
Category is often your primary category like department name or staff category.
Category - Secondary is often a sub-classification related to research areas.
Job Title(s) supports adding titles that reflect your position(s) or responsibilities. Those with multiple titles can add each as a new line by clicking “Add another item.”
Phone Number(s) are work numbers. List in order of preference, with each number having its own line by clicking “Add another item.” Following the formatting of XXX-XXX-XXXX.
Address(es) are locations where you have an office or perform work. Multiple addresses can be added on separate lines.
Links direct people to a lab website, Google Scholar entry and more.
URL is the full address which must begin with “http(s)://”.
Link Text is what people see and click on.
Biography captures the who, what, when, where and why of your work. A good place to start is writing an “elevator pitch” about yourself and your work using the following prompts.
My role at UA is…
I work with… (audience/community/program)
I focus on… (expertise/mission)
My goals/outcomes are… (what you help deliver).
CV/Documents is an open section to upload files
Make the filename descriptive and avoid capital letters and spaces. For example, change “cv2025FINAL.pdf” to“ben-downer-cv.pdf”. This makes it easier to find and reuse your document on another page. It also helps search engines more easily index your document.
The Description modifies the text users will see on the page. For a CV, the description could say “Curriculum Vitae”. Leaving this field blank defaults to displaying the filename.
In most cases, leave Link to external bio blank. Located under the Summery fields tab, use it to enter an external URL if you want to link directly to a bio page on another website (e.g. other departmental website). This must be an external URL such as https://example.com.
